I’m Taking a New 2010 Art Journaling Class

I’m taking Kelly Kilmer’s New Art Journaling Class for 2010, A Life Made By Hand.

Here is my page for today; the prompt was related to our unique gifts.

This process is different. With my last class, I always started with painting the page using acrylic paint.

For this class, Kelly gives us only two prompts, collage and journaling. We are given instructions as to shape and placement for the collage pieces, which cover the entire journal page, and then there is a journaling question, and we are to write the answer on top of the page we have created. It’s like designing a puzzle with pieces of paper, putting it together, and then writing on it.

The new process feels like a stretch for me right now, so that’s good. I’ve also chosen a different journal to work in. It’s 6″ X 8″, quite a bit smaller than my last format, and a different shape. It’s a $2 spiral bound journal from the dollar store that has lined paper, similar to binder paper.

The paper I chose for the upper right hand corner has special significance for me. It’s a paper that wrapped a vase of flowers that one of my clients sent me in celebration of the New Year.

  1. What an interesting process. I’m going to try it. I’ve recently discovered Chinese brush art - like you, excited to find new way to play with my creativity.
    Happy New Year Lynne!
