Letting Go

Fall Trees

The last of the leaves have just fallen off the trees.

The honeysuckles were the last to go. They finally turned a sickly yellow green and then just sort of gave up and let go.

The rest of the trees lost their leaves weeks ago. They turned brilliant colors before they did, just like this drawing that I did a couple of years ago.

This makes me wonder about my own process of letting go.

Do I hang onto stuff that it’s time to let go of, clinging tenaciously, and no doubt turning a sickly green? :-)

Or, do I instead let go brilliantly, shining, in my glory, and easily releasing?

The answer to that is really clear: a lot of the former and some of the latter. I think it would be fun to switch that around.
