Playful and Creative Space

I wrote in a prior blog that I was in a sorting and clearing …….what is the word? Frenzy? Compulsion? Whatever,…… the bottom line is that I was possessed by an urge to clear some space to create.

In addition to my commitment to clear, my husband Harold and I have had the intention of making our home feel like a creative space.

As I have cleared each space in our house, we have looked for ways to make the “new” space feel playful.

Here’s one of my favorite examples:

Mud room bins

This is the Mud Room Redux.

Our Mud Room is, as you might guess, a very utilitarian and functional space, so I really had to rack my brain to come up with a way for it to feel playful.

That’s when it occurred to me to make some colorful signs for our bins that hold all of our outdoor gear.

The signs themselves looked incomplete, so I asked Harold to draw pictures on them, and Voila!, the result is what you see here. I think the drawings are brilliant, and they certainly make the mud room feel playful and creative.

Just another great example of the power of intention.
