Art Shenanigans
Reporting on two developments in the continuing saga of Art in the Hood.
On Sunday, a couple of weeks ago, I was immersed in a number of technology challenges when I heard some voices down by the mailbox. The mailbox is a few hundred feet away, through a woods, so I couldn’t see what was going on, and promptly forgot about it.
Later, as we went down the drive to take the dogs for a walk, we were delighted to see our newly adorned mailbox:

I’m not sure who did it, but I have my suspicions.
It was perfect timing; it shook me completely out of my technology “fix it” obsession.
I retaliated last Sunday by hanging a natural wheel sculpture on my neighbor’s property.

I hung the “wheel” on the grapevine “clothesline” that my neighbor had constructed a few weeks ago, right next to his flowing cascade of branches and leaves.
This “art war,” as my other neighbor calls it, is inspiring me to see my environment with new eyes this summer. Now, all of nature is both a palette and potential source of sculpture materials.
