The Gift of the Gale Wind
The weather forecast for today was “Breezy.”
I woke up to a relentless, fierce, hard-driving wind that’s practically mowing down the new willow shoots in the pond.

I’m only surprised because I was expecting something else. It’s April 1 and I wanted a picture-postcard perfect Spring day: daffodils and crocus, greens, blues, purples, and yellows.
As my friend Jan says, “Disappointment takes adequate planning.”
I walked out into the maelstrom. I felt the ferocity of the wind, leaned into the power of it.
I felt the wind clearing the cobwebs, in me, that had been building up all winter.
I felt the inertia and dormancy start to loosen their grip.
I gave myself to the energy of change and transition that is the gale wind.
