Leverage the Creative Power of Thought in a Reinvention
When you are in a reinvention, you have a tremendous opportunity to get creative leverage by directing your thought.
Here are two very practical tools you can use to practice directing your thought.
1. Keep your focus on your Outcome. Shift your thinking from what you don’t want to what you do want. This immediately puts your focus on your outcome rather than your problem or ‘now situation’. As soon as you are clear on your outcome, fast forward in your mind to when you have your outcome. See it, feel it, hear it; i.e., do the best you can to create a ‘feeling’ experience of fully having it in your mind.
2. Let go of the ‘How’. Let the How emerge step-by-step. We are trained by many cultural and business influences to develop comprehensive action plans. In a reinvention, you aren’t going to know the whole plan because you are creating it as you go along. To the extent that you focus on the How, you will get stuck, because you just can’t see it. So, every time you find yourself anxious because you can’t see ‘How’, focus on just your next step. When you stay ‘lined up’ with your inner being, you will be inspired to each next action as you go along.
