Trust It!

One of the biggest supporters and inspirations in my life is Randy, my personal trainer, whom I’ve worked with for three and a half years. He’s the perfect blend of support and challenge, something I want and need in my trainer.

Often while I am bench pressing (75 pounds or so), I momentarily lose my nerve or focus or concentration.

Randy, on it immediately, barks “Trust It!”

He’s spotting me, but he doesn’t bail me out, because he knows I can do it.

He also knows that weight lifting is as much a mental game as a physical one, and he can feel and see my slightest hesitation instantaneously.

I get it, and as soon as I engage “Trust It!” in me, I can feel the strength to push through the move.

This is what we all need in our reinventions: to trust what we know is right, trust the direction we’re headed, trust the next ‘right’ step, trust our inner guidance.

We all need Randy standing there, demanding that we “Trust It!’ when we momentarily lose our nerve.

And I guess since we don’t have him standing there 24/7, we’ll all have to do it for ourselves.

“Trust It!”
